Nebraska Ballet Theatre & School Company

Our Company Team offers additional opportunities to grow in technique and performance, while learning how to work as a team. These dancers train in dance technique, learn and perform choreography in a variety of dance styles, and take additional responsibility for their dance journey. This team focuses on a positive growth experience, while challenging dancers to give their own personal best every day!

Performance

Our performance team is an introductory experience to the Company Team. Dancers focus on developing their performance, growing in technical skills, exploring the choreography process, and enjoying team activities. Performance Team members have the opportunity to perform throughout the local community at locations such as Lincoln Saltdogs games, Gateway Mall, local pumpkin patches, and retirement communities.

Competitive

Our competitive team performs at local community events, as well as dance competitions throughout the region. This team is a group of dedicated students who strive for their goals and love to perform. Dancers on our Competitive Team collaborate together to create polished dance pieces, learn how to use feedback from coaches to grow, and match athletics with artistry in their performance.

YAGP

Dancers with ample experience focusing their training on ballet and contemporary instruction have the opportunity to perform at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) regional competitions. Dancers in our YAGP Company group take a detailed approach to their technique, build their classical knowledge, and challenge themselves in classes with teachers and students from all over the globe.

Ballet Production

Each year, our school creates a theatrical ballet production for all ballet students at all levels. This is a unique experience for dancers to be a part of a full-length performance and enhance their well-rounded dance education.

All ballet students are invited to perform in this production, and older dancers have opportunities to audition for lead and main character roles. Students and families work together with ballet faculty in the creation of the storyline, scenery, props, and staging.

Showcase

Our annual showcase takes place each fall and allows dancers in multiple class styles to share their hard work and progress with our community.

Dancers in classes such as tap, jazz, pointe, hip hop, and contemporary perform pieces at this show that they have worked on with classmates. A highlight of our showcase is our annual Tap Team performance, which includes over 50 dancers in a tap production that is always a crowd favorite.

This showcase provides dancers with the experience of learning choreography, practicing with determination, and building confidence by bravely performing on stage.

Acro Performance

Acro Showcase

Each year we hold our annual Acro Showcase. This showcase features all of our acro students in a fun themed performance for all ages and levels. Acro dancers at upper levels have the opportunity audition for main character roles in this creative and enchanting showcase.

Acro Olympics

A highlight of our Acro program is our Acro Olympics. This is an opportunity for our students to showcase all of their hard work and see their progress as they work on their individualized goals at each level. Dancers compete in an encouraging environment with other peers in the areas of strength, flexibility, and technical skills. Friends and families are encouraged to attend and cheer on their Acro dancer.

Modern Demonstration

Dancers in our upper level programming learn fundamental techniques in both Modern and Contemporary dance styles. Our Modern Demonstration features elements of improvisation, personal expression, and dynamic movement. Dancers learn the adaptability and fluidity found in modern dance by studying various disciplines.

Ballet Exams

Each year, our students participate in ballet examinations to further develop their technique and gain confidence in the areas of auditioning and performance. The structured assessments are designed to evaluate their technical skills, artistic expression, and understanding of the ballet fundamentals.

Adult Showcase

Our adult showcase is an opportunity for our adult dancers to share their progress with friends and families. This is an in-house demonstration for our adult students to gain confidence with performance, as well as enjoy the opportunity to share their talents within a supportive community.

Company Showcase

Our company dance showcase is a performance event showcasing our Company performance teams. This event is a series of choreographed pieces performed by dancers, showcasing their skills, creativity, and artistry.

Nutcracker Suite

Each year our dancers are invited to attend the Sugar Plum Ball in Omaha, NE to perform for their charity event that raises funds for Children’s Pediatric Leukemia research. Dancers who audition to be a part of this group have the opportunity to share the joy of performing and give back in the process!

Leadership

Each month, our school focuses on a specific leadership principle. With guidance from our teachers, students explore how applying that skill enhances our dance practice and our success in social, academic, professional, and family life.
