Programs

Nebraska Ballet Theatre & School

At Nebraska Ballet Theatre & School, teachers take great pride in encouraging our students to think, investigate, and practice diverse forms of dance. Our goal is to motivate and inspire students to gain a depth of knowledge that will help them become the dancer and person they are meant to be.

Pre-School

Our pre-school programs foster a love of dance, music, and movement. Classes focus on developing listening skills and following directions, while encouraging creativity and joy through dance!

Primary

Our young dancer programs provide a strong foundation of dance technique. We focus on student development and building confidence through new challenges, positive feedback, and performance opportunities.

Fundamentals

Our dance fundamentals programs provide dancers new opportunities to grow in dance artistry, performance, and technique. These programs focus on building upon strong technique foundations, while developing well-rounded, confident dancers and students.

Conservatory

Our conservatory program provides well-rounded training in a variety of dance styles for dancers seeking to refine their dance education and grow as a movement artist and strong leader.

Adult Programs

At Nebraska School of Performing Arts we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where adult dancers of all skill levels can explore their passion for movement.

Our mission is to empower individuals through dance and wellness, fostering personal growth, creativity, and community connection. We believe in the transformative power of dance to enhance both physical well-being and emotional expression, inspiring our students to thrive in all aspects of life.

We offer a progressive adult program for both beginner and experienced dancers.  Dance classes help relieve stress and improve physical and mental health. Our adult programs are truly transformational — inside and out!

Acro Programs

Our Acro programs provide an exciting, safe environment to learn new skills while building strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Acro enhances balance and agility and promotes proper posture and coordination. These classes are also great cross training for athletes and dancers.

Acro is not gymnastics. There are some similar elements as tumbling and gymnastics, but Acro focuses on the use of control and detailed muscle memory to achieve each skill. While gymnastics uses equipment, Acro uses props or dance to move in and out of skills. Acrobatic dancers take additional dance classes to learn the basics and have a full knowledge of skills.

Our school is certified in Acrobatic Arts and uses this curriculum to ensure safe progressions of training for our dancers.

Theater

Our Theater programs and sessions provide an exciting, safe environment to learn new skills while collaborating, developing confidence, and exploring new avenues of expression. Our Theater programs provide opportunities to enhance acting, audition skills, backstage presence, and more!

Theater is not just acting on a stage. There are some similar elements to what you see on stage, but theater sessions focus on developing dialogue, creativity, singing, and dancing.  Theater students are encouraged to take additional classes to learn the basics of dance and develop well-rounded skills.

Leadership Academy

Developing strong leaders is a core value at Nebraska School of Performing Arts. Leadership curriculum is shared through all our classes with monthly leadership themes that students explore, discuss, and practice.

Our Leadership Academy expands on these ideas to take leadership to the next level. Students invited to participate attend regular classes in leadership and take on additional responsibilities at our school such as assisting classes, student teaching, and growing their confidence in career readiness. Students are able to progress through Leadership Academy levels as they grow in their understanding.

Students develop as role models for the entire Nebraska School of Performing Arts community, as well as extending these lessons to other areas of their lives such as future job skills, leadership roles at school, and becoming caring citizens.

Leadership

Each month, our school focuses on a specific leadership principle. With guidance from our teachers, students explore how applying that skill enhances our dance practice and our success in social, academic, professional, and family life.
